The role of Outside Sales Representative is to sell Townsend products and services to large, pro-channel customers outside of the retail store setting.
This position is compensated on a commission basis.

Solicit sales from the professional contractors through cold calling and setting appointments with the existing customer base.
Travel throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders.
Work with customers to identify and provide solutions to their product needs.
Develop business strategies to grow market share and optimize profitability.
Build and maintain relationships with customers by promoting the Company's Mission, Vision, and Values at all times.
This includes providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the needs of customers are consistently met in a timely and efficient manner.
Develop and maintain knowledge of the building industry in the area serviced by the store location as well as state of the art product knowledge in the building materials industry.
Work with management to regularly research data and trends to ensure market competitiveness.
Work with all levels within the company to identify, analyze, and solve problems that affect profitability and customer relations within the assigned area, and develop and implement solutions for continuous improvement.
Set and achieve challenging sales goals.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications of the ideal candidate include:
High school diploma or equivalency; College degree a plus.
At least 5 years' experience in lumber and building materials, or related industry, is preferred.
Proven success in outside sales with a track record of meeting sales and business objectives.
Computer literacy and knowledge of current office technology.
Experience working with Microsoft Office programs or G Suite.
Ability to find, develop, and maintain customer relationships.
Exceptional organizational skills.
Strong communication skills.
Detail oriented.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work with confidential information.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Ability to think strategically.
